Fragmentation of terminal devices is far from decreasing: the other way around, it keeps increasing. For instance, just considering some devices do not support the latest OS updates, enabling the largest audience for a streaming service while keeping maintenance cost under control could become a major challenge.
With an optimised design and a low level implementation, the player has a consistent interface for all devices, allows the latest features to be available even on older, not updated, devices with a high performance. In many cases, the player has both a higher performance and larger feature set than then native player of the device, allowing higher quality streams to be enjoyed by user.
Using a progressive parsing of segments as they come, the player starts decoding with just few video frames of delay, just enough to reconcile audio and video.
When used in conjonction with an appropriate stream packaging and delivery, the player is compliant with ultra low latency, with less than 400ms to the play head.
Especially for large live sports events, the low latency solution will minimize the gap with other DVB-T or analog radio terminals.
The player manages ads elegantly with uninterruptible moments in the video.
At a technical level, the player handles all aspects of ads related events and signals.

player.idvu.co can also be linked to additional online security with anonymous CCPR/GDPA compliant checks bringing dynamic behavioral based security (artificial intelligence). Online dynamic checks delay reverse engineering attempts in weeks.
The internal peering technology of the player enables to stream a content downloaded on the device to the nearby Apple TV or Chromecast device.
